Hagoita Racket
Hagoita are traditionally used in a game called hanetsuki, similar to badminton, but over time, they have become more ornamental than functional. These rackets are often beautifully decorated with elaborate designs, featuring raised images of kabuki actors, historical figures, or other cultural motifs. Hagoita are commonly displayed as New Year's decorations and are considered good luck charms, symbolizing the warding off of evil spirits.
